Earth Day 2018 Events in Los Angeles

earth-day-2018-events-los-angeles

Earth Day 2018 is built on 49 years of tradition. Earth Day was established in 1969 following a devastating oil spill off California’s southern coast. April 22 was designated as a national day to celebrate the Earth. The date was chosen to commemorate the birth of famed naturalist and conservationist John Muir, who was born on April 21, 1838.

It’s estimated that 20 million people participated in the first Earth Day in 1970. Today there are formal events celebrating Earth Day in 192 countries, with more than one billion people participating. This year marks the 49th year of Earth Day.

Here in LA, there are plenty of free Earth Day 2018 activities to help you celebrate as a family and show your kids the importance of protecting our global playground. Whether you’re mighty or small or somewhere in between, there’s sure to be a celebration wherever you’re at this weekend!

At the event not only will we have a swap, but also hike together and learn more about minimalism and zero waste lifestyle. Come and join us on a swap day and friendly fun 3 mile hike at Big Dalton Dam Trail with ~350 ft elevation gain. Check-in will start at 7:45AM and event will start 8AM. Please feel free to email us at info@trashfreeearth.org if you have any questions.
